I’m on the North Kawishiwi. The rain just let up and the northern lights are out!

That’s a great first night on your first bwca trip. I hope you don’t have to wait as long as me to see them while in the bwca again. The only time I’ve seen the northern lights while in the bwca was on the first night of my first trip in 1992.

We made it a family outing last night and piled the kids in the car and drove out to the sherburne wildlife refuge. Only problem was that everyone else had the same idea and there were more cars out there than rush hour traffic in the cities. We found a pretty quiet place to park, but there were stretches of road where there were hundreds of cars lined up. There were one lane roads that had so many cars that it looked like everyone was going to be trapped and not be able to get out.

Nice photo. Although I have seen the lights in the past they have never been as dramatic as those in your photo.

Last night from my place in Pine City. They were overhead! I have never seen anything like it.
