I am a fan of the Patagonia Torrentshell 3L jacket. I like the weight of the fabric and it seems pretty decent at keeping me dry. I am kind of 2x-ish sized but varies brand to brand.
I'm an XXL and have Patagonia Torrentshell. It is the best rain jacket I've owned. Have had REI, North face, and others in past and this surpasses all. Haven't had to use in BWCA yet but have been in many downpours in it. Kept me totally dry. Water beads off it. It is a true 3 layer jacket. Bought on sale at REI.
It is a bit crinkly but I'll live with it as the main goal is to stay dry - and that it does. Runs pretty true sized as well - maybe even a touch on the large side, but that works well for layering if needed.
Cabelas / Bass Pro makes a guidewear goretex jacket that goes up to 4X. I've had one for years and I absolutely love goretex. They are pretty true to size and I tend to order a rain jacket larger just so I can have a fleece or puffy layer underneath if needed. The 3x jacket I have is 1#3oz and worth every ounce of weight.
