it's been snowing up the gunflint trail since last evening. we've gotten about 4-6 inches so far. it's got some moisture content. shovel then scrape then shovel then scrape... hopefully the temps will drop down near zero so it gets easier to pack.

I am hoping to take my ice skates out on the lake next week when I'm home in MN. That way the only way Murphy's law can ruin my trip is more snow :)
Is there ski-able snow in Brainard, Duluth, Northern WI? Wondering how far north I need to drive?

quote Pinetree: "We got about a 1/1000 of a inch last night. That is the most we got in a long time.
Holiday season ending soon, than hope to head up north."
It appears you've unintentionally created a "new ski no snow bemuda triangle" around your house. There is nice snow on Lake Minnetonka here in Minneapolis (not a lot), and there appears to be snow further north of you.

quote DanCooke: "Went in on the 28th off mid trail, came home on the 1st. 2-3 inches on the ice 8-12 inches in the woods fast good skiing."
You can't beat lake travel when you have just 2-3 inches of snow. You cruise so nice and it is beautiful.

Curious to see if you took your fatter Madshus skis and how they did. Hopefully you'll eventually have a trip report and some pictures!
