What a great trip! I completely understand what you mean by almost laughing at 30 or 40 rod portage. Anything under 40 starts to feel like a waste of time! We swore, our next trip we would try to plan it so we could do more 70-80 rods - not so much to wear you out, but enough to make it worth taking the canoe out of the water. Glad everyone enjoyed themselves.

Very entertaining report. Seems like you got a good taste of what the BW has to offer. And I know what you mean about that killer 141 rod portoge towards Mudro. I did it going in a few years ago and was soaking in sweat.

I'm taking my 17 year old son in a few days for an 8 day trip. I'm curious how old the boys are in your group. Did they all catch plenty of fish?

All boys were 17. They all cought fish. Cole worked harder with the fly rod, had plenty of hook ups with less to the boat. If you fished, you caugt fish. None of the boys were seasoned fisherman, but caught on nicely.

Great trip report - appreciate your hard work in putting it together-enjoyed reading it. Sounds like you had a great time and had good luck with fishing!

This past weekend I pulled out our gear for upcoming trip on the Kawishiwi River - it's still three weeks away, but the anticipation is growing!

Nice report. I love the picture of the boys smiling in the rain. It amazes me how resilient most teenagers seem to be out there. They go through all kinds of misery and still come up smiling and enjoying the trip. It's nice to show them there's more to life than video games and hanging out at the mall.

Nice report - group chemistry is so vital, sounds like you had the right crew.

Anyone been on the Horse River, lately? Where is that first portage coming from Horse Lake?

Awesome report. Enjoyed reading. Seriously thinking of taking this trip next year. I too can appreciate the father son bond made on these trips. A lifetime of memories.

Thanks.

Nothing like the sons and dad stories, or family in general. Always burning memories in the mind when the kids go with DAD.
Great report. SunCatcher

The 141 rod portage might be the worst ever. Straight up hill, rocks, and no matter the weather you will be drenched in your own sweat. Mudrow loop is one of my all time favorite trips. I will be heading that way soon for a solo trip.
