Entry Point 16 - Moose/Portage River (North of Echo Trail)

Moose/Portage River (north) entry point allows overnight paddle only. This entry point is supported by La Croix Ranger Station near the city of Ely, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 27 miles. Access is a 160-rod portage heading North from the Echo Trail.

Kanoes, I was alternately frustrated and angry. I was afraid someone would drown and really ruin our trip, and really angry that anyone could be that stupid.

I would hate to watch that and not be able to do anything. At least they all finally got to shore and you were there to help the boy. I hope they learned some things from that experience.

Thanks for the report! It reminds me to pay attention, wear life jackets and don't paddle when you should stay on shore... their stupidity could have cost them their lives.....and messed up your trip.;-(
