Nice report and thank you for your comments. Do you have any pictures of the lakes you could post? Thanks.

Thanks for the report. That's the same route my boys, dad am I will be taking in a couple of weeks. I've read before to avoid the 2 shorter portages.

Hoping for pictures.

I too was on that trip.(the husband) The pics can be found here: Photos
I apologize as I was a little weary of pulling my expensive camera out of the stuff sack while traveling, but I did mount my GoPro on the bow of the canoe for the ride out and shot a picture every minute. Time Lapse Next time I will pack a few more batteries and will set it up for a smoother time lapse. It was an amazing trip!!

quote wawasee: "Nice report! How did your dog enjoy the trip?"
She was in absolute heaven!! She even flushed a couple grouse back down the portage trail towards us.

Welcome Jgull and forced240 and thanks for the report and photos. I enjoyed them very much. I too revel in the smallest details of the BW's flora and fauna. Your pictures are wonderful especially the Swallow Tail Butterflies. The GoPro time lapse was cool too.

Hoping to hear and see more from you in the future.

Nice report. I have made the Ella portage mistake myself... once. On the map it seems like it would be easier but it's way harder than just sucking it up and grinding out the longer one.
