Entry Point 19 - Stuart River

Stuart River entry point allows overnight paddle only. This entry point is supported by Kawishiwi Ranger Station near the city of Ely, MN. The distance from ranger station to entry point is 28 miles. Access is a 480-rod portage to the Stuart River.

Thanks for the report, Lynn. A very enjoyable read and it sounds like it was a very enjoyable trip for you. Even just reading it, the trip seemed too short, though ;) I like the idea of having "my own lake" on a solo :).

Enjoyed your report. My wife and I attempted to get into White Feather- to filter water for our water bottles and check out the site there on our way up the Stuart River. But the water was low and we couldn't find any way in. As we didn't have a permit anyway, and we had a long way to go still, we didn't put a lot of time or effort into it. So it was great to see your photos of the site and the lake. Looks like a nice place to spend some time.

Nice report. We floated into White Feather five years ago at the end of a trip going down the Stuart & it looked like no one had been there in years. Seems like a great place to spend a few quiet days. I love these kinds of corners of the BWCA.

Freshwater is delicious! Saltwater not so much..
