What a treat to go on your October trip with you! I enjoyed every moment of it! :-)

Seriously, when I read it, I did feel like I was there with you. Mainly because of the wonderful photos and the descriptive narrative. Glad I decided to take a break and check out the computer this evening.

Great report as usual.

Glad you liked it, Lynda!

We're watching the snow on the lake melt . . . very . . . slowly . . . here at Timberdoodle, thinking about the upcoming paddling season. :)

Thanks, Ho Ho. I enjoyed the report and pictures. Moose River North was the entry for my first trip and the exit for my second trip when I entered at Little Indian Sioux North, so it brought back a lot of memories.

We went up through Agnes to LLC, past Warrior Hill and the pictos, down through Pocket and Gebe to Oyster and out again on my first trip. It was a mid-Sept trip and we arrived at Agnes shortly before dusk only to find it filled up.

The second trip was a solo through the lakes under LLC (Finger, etc.) to Pocket and back down to Oyster and out. I was fighting a strong, gusty headwind into Oyster and had to take refuge at that site you had lunch at. The next morning I shoved everything in the pack at dawn and hit the water before the wind. I was already a day behind schedule and needed to get out.

Oyster's a beauty, though, when the wind isn't up.

Glad you were able to get a late trip in, have nice weather and no crowds. And thanks for the memories ;).

Great report! We stayed on Agnes in September and most of your pictures around the lake really took me back there. Looks like it was a pretty amazing time!

I loved reading your report. How do you get your pictures to display so big? My reports have little pictures. I love yours!

As always, Bill, a fantastic trip report. Great writing and photos.

I get excited whenever you post a trip report because they are always so good. This one did not disappoint! October is a great way to go to places that are really busy in the summer.

I'm glad people are enjoying the report. I always enjoy reading people's comments and feedback.

PixiePaddler - I get the pictures in large format by first uploading them to photobucket.com, then put a "hot link" in the report so the picture shows up there. When you read the report, you are actually seeing text stored on this site, but pictures stored on photobucket. I like the large format much more than the little thumbnails you have to click on. If you want more details about how to do this, you can email me.

Great report, Ho Ho. We entered Moose River EP Sept. 29th and exited Oct. 5th so it was great to see your pictures from a few days later. Moose looked almost at peak when we exited.

We spent our first night at the campsite you visited on Oyster. At that time, the mouse occupied a rock next to the fire grate. From there we did two nights on Finger, and three on Tiger Bay in LLC.

Here a couple pics from our trip. Thanks for sharing yours.

PixiePaddler--I also do my trip report photos this way. It takes a little longer, but once you get used to the system, it goes fairly easily. And it makes the photos seem like so much more a part of the report. (Ho Ho taught me how to do it.)

Great report. Brings back fond memories. I haven't been in that area for a few years.

Really enjoyed the trip report and the photos. It is really striking how quickly the weather can change, maybe especially that time of year.

Great work Ho Ho - it is a very nice report. You local folks who can take advantage of an indian summer on short notice are living well.

Thanks for the Trip Report and Photos Bill. It was great seeing pictures of Fall colors and open water. I really like that area with it's mix of rivers and lakes. Piwi looks like she had fun and is a real veteran canoe tripping dog now.

I saw a caterpillar crossing the Echo Trail today so the canoe trailers can't be too far behind.

Great report Ho Ho.
On our first family BWCA trip last summer we went in EP 14 and came out EP 16, so your beautiful pictures brought back lots of good memories for me. We camped for two nights on Oyster on the next campsite south of where you crossed the isthmus. Our exit from Oyster involved a race across the lake to the east portage through choppy waters to avoid an approaching thunderstorm.
Our last night was near where you had lunch on Nina Moose. Definitely more crowded in late June, but still breathtakingly beautiful.
Thanks again. I always enjoy reading about your travels.
Take care,
Lil

Thanks for the comments and feedback!

BTW, David deserves credit for many of the pictures (although I do all the photo selection and editing for the report). That's how I manage to be in so many. :)

Thank you, Ho Ho! An October trip is always on the list, but never have done one yet. Great to see familiar places dressed in fall colors.
