Nice weekend getaway. Don't think I could stay at TC, though? I'd probably weigh a ton if I stayed there a couple days? Especially my favorite: MmmmMmmm, RHUBARB MALT!

Very cool and Congratulations on 10 years. Did you read the journal and/or add to it? My wife and I celebrated our 18th anniversary in Cabin 2 from Aug. 23-27th. We thought it was perfect!

Thanks for sharing.

Reports like this are why I kick myself for living an 18 hour drive away.

Ducks, I'm pretty sure Stephenie read the whole journal. It's amazing how long some people have been making an annual trip up there and also the number of moose sighting in that area.

It was our first stay in a Trail Center cabin but we have eaten there many times as we converted over to the Grand Marais and Gunflint area about 8 years ago after spending most of our vacations on the Ely side for about 8 years.

We were fortunate to see a cow and calf moose out in the bay over by the American Flag while having our morning coffee on the deck. It was the first moose my wife had seen in around 11 years. She was starting to think I was lying about the moose I saw on my daddy/daughter bwca trips and with her dad. We also saw a bear in the East Bearskin Campground and another one up by the turn off to Tuscarora Lodge.

The weather was windy, cold, and rainy most of our stay so we hiked the Centenial Trail one day, canoed/portaged to Horseshoe Lake and back one day, and then hiked the Caribou Rock Trail to Rose Lake falls/stairway portage and back one day.

I think we are going to stay in Grand Marais or the Gunflint Trail for our anniversary next year and have a daytrip to Johnson Falls at the top of our list.

We stayed in that cabin in 2012 before our canoe trip with HoHO and David. It's a really nice place to relax and spend a few days. Having the restaurant nearby is certainly a plus! :-)

Your trip to Johnson Falls looks like it was awesome. We have never gone to the falls by that route, have always approached from Clearwater/Caribou/Pine. But however you go, Johnson Falls is a great destination.

Happy 10th anniversary, I was there at the falls the day after you were. I'm glad the falls were running strong.
