I enjoyed your trip report and video. Your dog made me laugh - reminded me of my daughter's old dog.

I have always heard that the longer portage is easier than the two short ones there; kind of surprised you didn't try it on the way back.

After quite a few solo trips, and longer ones, I've learned how to keep the food weight closer to what I actually eat. Early on I think I took twice what I ate :). And that would weigh a lot extra on a 12-day trip.

Thanks for the report and video - the Lady Chain is on my to-do list. The Louse River too.

What a great canoe partner. He looks like a good tripper. Your new ride looks nice!

Nice report. That area is on my list at some point. I love the adventurous attitude of "I need a permit, what's open?" That is a pretty boat, I bet it is hard to 'break it in' with a few scratches. Thanks for packing out found trash- not everyone would do that.

That nerve that sparks whenever we hit a 'just below the surface' rock was especially sensitive for me on this trip, but I worked past it pretty fast. I remember as a kid when I got my first pair of good downhill skis going out on the hill and doing all I could keep them new. I was miserable trying to protect them. Finally some other kid ran right across them leaving big scratched across the face. I was mad for 5 minutes, then went on to have a lot of fun the rest of the day. It's gonna get scratched....its not worth being miserable again.

What's the brand of your dog pack.

My dogs pack is I think a size M which seemed right when I got it for him at age 1-1/2. Now slightly larger would do. He doesn't carry all his own food, but usually about 5-6 days worth.
