Do a quick search on the site for trip reports from this area. There are some GREAT ones out there.

I just got out of that area today, actually. Without a few more details, it's tough to give any feedback. Where specifically do you plan to get to on the first, second, etc. day?

The center of the area of big Pines (McNeice, Shan Walshe) burned in the 2011 fires. Many trees survived but there are areas cleared of timber. The portage between McNeice and Kahshahpiwi has become quite challenging as the resurgent forest has grown in thick and the stalks of burned trees have blocked the trail (trunks are big enough that trail is relocated rather than relocating the logs)- Yum Yum might be the "easier" trail. Get a Chrismar Map for accurate location of the portages. I was last through this area a few weeks ago.

The south portage out of Kahshahpiwi (into unnamed on the way to Side Lake) is difficult due to a recalcitrant beaver failing to maintain a consistent volume in its pond.

Heading through Prairie Portage and entry point Kashahpiwi on Friday August 25. Have info from Callen and Robert Beamer regarding this trip.

Noticed on Fisher maps that not many camp sites are noted. Any info on sites and portage conditions is very much appreciated.

Thank you in advance.
