You may have already been there, but area between Burntside and Badwater has a decent wolf population. Did not see any--never have, for sure--but we heard them at our camp (on Your L.?) one night. Scat and tracks were also seen, and a supposed old deer kill. A really neat area any way...

Been debating going further north this year to Woodland Caribou or Wabakimi. I’ve traveled through Quetico all over. As I’m looking at it, one of the few areas I haven’t seen would be a huge loop to the Sags from the north. I have over three weeks to a month to explore. I like coming in from the north and moving around. Looking for wolves.

I remember going to Woodland Caribou when I was 18, driving an old International Scout all the way to the edge of Woodland Caribou south of Red Lake, we saw a very young wolf cub on the main road north. It looked lost and we didn’t see the pack. We got out of the vehicle and we just sat with the wolf, about 2 ft away from it. It was so amazing. I’ll never forget it.

So the solitude and wolf sighting has been calling my heart, although I still have a few more lakes to see in the Q to feel like it’s time to go go further away from a beautiful area of our Mother Earth that has captivated my heart since I was a young boy. Let me know what you think.

Thank you so much.
