quote nojobro: "jamotrade, the big Clearwater on the east side, or Clearwater near Bald Eagle?"
I'm guessing east side. First campsite east of the portage into Mountain... Just a guess though.
Campsite on Kelly Lake 5-12-11
Just got back from 5 days on Ensign. Double portaging brings all the comforts for 5 great days of fishing and enjoying BWCA (lite as some would say). Very comfortable camp after a day of great fishing!
Is this the island you are talking about? I was wondering why the undergrowth and some of the trees were brown.
We really liked the site!
Stayed at that site last August...the island closest to it was on fire...slowly burning the duff and peat, but flared up when the picked up.
Kawnipi Lake May 2011
Basswood Lake. Last week. We put up a garage in the box. Was great for playing cards and staying dry.
Shan Walshe Lake
quote emgrace4: "Same pics, but I had some fun with the coloring on the 2nd one. These are from Lake 3 on a great campsite from July 2010.
My hubs and I spent a night at that site on our way to Insula last May. It was a great site.
Disappointment Lake 2011. Just make sure to turn the right way coming out of the tent.
I wish I could enter this one but it was about 100 yards away from the bwca on Vermilion.
This was just a couple of nights ago on Gillis lake during the rain.
Rainbow after a hail storm, Bootleg Lake July 2008
Now THAT is a tarp pole!
jamotrade, the big Clearwater on the east side, or Clearwater near Bald Eagle?
South Lake Eagle - May 2010
Pietro 2009. Looking down at camp from a high ridge behind camp. This is the burned side of Pietro - pretty cool seeing how the forest regrows after a fire.
Clearwater Lake, August 2010
Border Route Trail early May '11
Lac La Croix August 2010.
Lake Agnes Quetico 2010
THAT is awesome.
A great place to read! Crooked Lake.
Base Camp on Lynx Lake - May 14, 2011
Same pics, but I had some fun with the coloring on the 2nd one. These are from Lake 3 on a great campsite from July 2010.
I had many to choose from such as a camp in a burned out area but decided on this one - my typical solo set up. This one is on Heritage Lake.
Yeah, we brought folding chairs...we even brought a folding table. And it was all this guys idea.
Taken with B&W film on Gaskin Lake, June 2010.
628... we enjoyed that site a lot
pma campsite, followed all the rules.
Nice site....which one is it?
A little backwoods carpentry during a windy day......
For the contest, Kawishiwi Triangle, May 2009.
Gaskin, Aug. 2009
Mexican Hat Lake, WCPP. May 2010.

Yes...I have to haul in water. I use 7-gallon containers and usually haul in 8 of those. Every couple days I'll have to round up whoever's in camp to hike down to Beaver Creek and fill up the containers again.
quote Boarstalker: "Nojobro...those two little green topped things are the shower tent, complete with a propane fired shower and an outhouse tent, complete with full sized head/toilet seat that I position over a 6-foot hole I have to dig every year. Takes me about 2 days just to set elk camp up. One of the big tents I use exclusively for a mess hall complete with two big stoves, burners, 7 coolers full of grub, etc. Game wardens and biologists seem to find their way into camp in the evenings just in time for porterhouse steaks grilled over cedar coals, Texas Chili, elk stew or any other number of goodies, salads, sides and cobblers done up in Dutch ovens. Fun times out there."
Wow, elaborate! Do you have to haul in water, too, or is it near a source?
I'm sure it's fun....but do let us know what you think of the BW after you go. ;-)

Alpine July 2010
Beautiful camp setup to survive the cold wind and rain.
Far North end of Agnes. Great site.
Yeah, yeah I know....it's not the BWCA. But it's my little slice of heaven for 10-days out of the year; my elk camp out in a widerness area of Northwestern Colorado every year. This will be my first year not in elk camp because I've diverted my resources and time off from work to taking my 1st ever trip into the BWCA. The differences in the accomodations will be startling but I'm very much looking forward to it all.
there was not much room on this island site in Quetico but i found enough space for my Tent and Baker shelter.
good thing too because no sooner had i set up than a steady rain came on that lasted until the next evening.i was able to cook in the shelter and make that home for a day.the trees and brush were great wind breaks.
A rainbow in the BW. Very special!
My son and I. September 13, 2010. Kawishiwi River NW of Malberg Lake

Lac La Croix
A nice peninsula site on Kowasachong Lake. July 2010.
Long Island Lake, Sept '09.
Taken on Jordan Lake in the fall of 2007 during severe drought and a fire ban. Normally you wouldn't see my tarp over the fire pit quite like this.
I used this photo to try and comfort a friend who was suffering the final stages of a battle with cancer. He was at least a 30-40 year tripper and had story after story to tell me about the BW. I enlarged the photo and added the quote from 2 Corinthians 5:4-14 (about when we pack up our earthly tent).
Quetico, June 1992.

Kawshawi lake last summer. I'm the one in front, getting my beard braided by my neice :-)
paull lake, WCPP, may 2010 (not much for tent pads there)
Sarah Lake, September 3, 2010 - "Shelter in a Storm" -
My favorite site on Tuscarora- a warm July day so the rainfly was off- we slept under the stars as well.
Seldom used site on Ballard Lake, Quetico
Hard to do this with one photo but here is a 2008 Quetico Kashahpiwi site on a small island in the north end. Absolutely stunning location overlooking the lake. Too bad my tent was so ugly.
