MrBreeze	11/15/2011 03:15PM Some of the resorts construct "YURTS" on some lakes in the winter time. A Yurt is like a cabin and tent in one. Have stayed in one off of the Echo trail many times and enjoyed it always. Had gas furnace, full size stove/oven and NO phones, TV's or radios. The one we stay at is accessible only by ski or snowmobile. The outfitter would come out every couple days and resupply us with Beer or whatever we needed. Trout fishing was great everytime also. Would call outfitters on the gunflint and see if they have anything like this. Enjoy

inspector13	11/14/2011 04:58PM There is not much of a market up there for doing that because of accessibility issues, especially in the winter. I think that’s more of a north central MN-Lake of the Woods type thing and Lake Superior never freezes like that.
mocha	11/14/2011 04:40PM i don't think there are any businesses on the Trail that have sleeper houses. there are many 'locals' who have have personal houses on some of the better trout lakes. You might ask at the Beaverhouse, Buck's Hardware, Mike's Holiday...in Grand Marais if any private folks would rent out their house.
northallen	11/14/2011 04:30PM Not sure about sleeper cabins but you could check Gunflint Northwoods Outfitter or Mike at Canoeist (Two Harbors) for guided ice fishing.
walllee	11/13/2011 06:41PM My wife and I are taking a Early Jan trip up the north shore to have some fun.Does anybody up that way,or on the gunflint rent sleeper fish houses?We thought we might want to spend a night trying to catch some fish.
