quote Goldenbadger: "I'm reviving this thread because I would like to plan a dog sledding/ice fishing/camping trip either this winter or next. It seems the web site for Bill Slaughter is gone. Is he still in business? Does anyone know of other great outfitters? I have never been dog sledding, have never been winter camping, but I'm an avid ice fisherperson. "

Bill Slaughters Northwoods Guide Service. He is still around. I used Bill many years ago on a guided trip. Cooks a very good shore lunch also.

Call Basswood Bob's Guide Service out of Ely. We used him for freight hauling to Knife Lake twice.

I know Murphy does a lot of lake trout trips on the Knife by Dorthy Molters Islands. I only know Murphy from when we skiied in and he would stop and talk to us while dog sledding-seemed real friendly. Wintergreen would also be a good one. They all are probably pretty decent?
Check around for prices etc.

There is a dogsled outfitter out of the Ely area that specializes on northern pike on Basswood. The name is Slaughter(sp ?)

I think a trip to Knife Lake would be great.

I'm thinking about a trip next winter. I'd love to fish pike on Basswood. Or, any other BWCA dogsled over-night trip for any species of fish on any lake and am looking for recommendations.
