Just find an open area and look up.
The best time to watch the Perseids is usually after midnight on the 10th - 13th. This year, you may have better viewing before midnight due to the moon. The moon will be coming up later and getting smaller each night.
We will be arriving in Ely early on Saturday morning, so we will be just in time for the peak night. I hope it is clear.

I was doing crosswords by the light of the almost-full moon on Fourtown late last Tuesday night. Never experienced a moon so bright. Like sitting under a streetlamp.

Our crew will be on the water when Perseids makes its appearance next weekend. Any suggestions on best viewing? We are going out of Kawishiwi heading toward Snowbank. Thanks!

Overcast last night in the TC, but clear tonight!

Catch a shooting star and put it in your pocket!

Aug 11th my son gets married near the cities. Might get to see the showers. But I'll definitly be in for the blue moon at the end of the month... and the one in September.

My calander says the next full moon is August 2nd.

I'll be at the Trout Forest Music Festival in Ear Falls, Ontario August 10-12. It would be great to be able to see a meteor shower along with all that music.

Oh shoot! I will have just missed that one by a few days :( I love a full moon, so cool what you can see in the darkness with no flashlights!

Nothing I like better than watching the Perseids while floating on my back in a lake.

Already marked in my notebook. We'll be on Lynx or Shell that night. Looking forward to it and hoping for clear skies.

Edit; I'll be there for the meteor shower, not the full moon.

Pics of the full moon from my ice out solo trip in early April. I also like the moonless sky on a crisp night away from the city lights.

For now at least, the brightest light in the sky August 1 will be the full moon if the night is clear. August 1 is also the day my second son was born. He turns 18 tomorrow.

Last year, I was camping in the bwca on Crab Lake during the full moon. It was my first solo. So many changes in just one year.

Enjoy the waning days of summer, and the lovely view of the sky at night. Molo
