I heat my house with wood. All the wood I burn is blow down wood from people's yards. And all hard wood. Three cords split and stacked in the wood shed. Three more trees with my name on them to bring home.

Cheep cheep cheep.

Buying firewood is verboten at my house.
My friends call me by my bird name.

quote Lakerloon: "I consider myself an urban firewood scavenger. I never pay for firewood for my firepit at home. I've been working on the wood I got from a few standing dead elms I scavenged from behind the warehouse where I used to work and I'm ready to go get the other two standing dead elms that are still waiting there for me when the current batch runs out. And I'm always scavenging smaller stuff that I see lying around the neighborhood when I need it. Walking the dogs every day helps me to scope out what's available in my neighborhood. And last fall I built a sweet firewood rack in my backyard.

I'm not alone! I too am an urban firewood scavenger! I'll pull over and fill the trunk whenever I see anything decent on the curb. My girlfriend makes so much fun of me for it, but she never complains when we've got a fire roaring on a cold night.

Yes, you are sick. Luckily, the treatment is easy. More paddling.

You are not alone, Jerry - see Geo's recent thread about buying a BWCA firegrate. Feel better now?

quote OneMatch: "A storm came thru town last night and the neighborhood is ridden with medium sized fallen branches. Spent all morning cleaning them up and all I could think was how great they would look under a BW fire grate.

To top it off, I just now - after ten whole days - finally took the canoe off the top of the truck. It broke my heart.

Am I sick, or what?"

Jerry, I think we all are (hopefully terminally) ill. They need to send us all the bwca until we are cured!!

You should just buy one of those grates and set it up in your yard surrounded by rocks and...live the dream 24/7/365.
