03/13/2017 10:04PM Thanks Magrockt. I definitely made the rookie mistake of planning for the forcast vs. "worst case scenario" and it was pert-en-erre- worst case. (In my books). I think next year I'm legit going to get a camper cabin at Bearhead and do day trips to re-ignite my winter passion.... I'm just definitely not acclimatized to the cold - the company was great, and it was type 2 fun all the way! Yes Bre. I'm laughing about it/and looking back fondly on it now! |

03/13/2017 07:07PM Very nice trip report, Lindsey. Hope you decide to keep winter camping. Maybe just working on more layering options for extreme cold that you encountered. I sometimes think the hot tent is just torture when the fire goes out overnight. Such extreme temp drops you're bound to get chilled. Warmer weather and soft water is on its way! |

A "big one" got my minnow off my treble hook, so hopefully he's still in there and you catch him! If you camp at/near the BRT campsite on Clearwater we left you (or some lucky person/group) a present! |

03/12/2017 09:24AM very well-thought-out and reviewed trip, Lindsey. i would guess winter camping would be too much work for most people. And you've been 3 times! you will find your groove with it and then your mini-me will want to get involved. Clearwater is such a beautiful lake, it would be been relaxing and rewarding to just sit and look at the surroundings. the lake cracking and moaning can be unsettling, it sounds like you all adapted very well. hope you post more photos! |
