Well this certainly stokes the fires for this upcoming paddling season!
The newbie would be well advised to watch the fish fighting technique. Notice how when the fish wants line the angler drops his rod and "follows" the fish and only reasserts control when the fish eases off. This is very important and the sign of a pro.
Bear with me......its all a matter of physics. Let me explain and those who use mono should pay particular attention. Since mono has stretch you generally want your drag to be fairly tight (but not exceeding the breaking strength of the line) when you set the hook.
But as the fish nears the boat, or as in this case the shore bound angler, that stretch is largely negated. This is a dangerous time..........With the rod bent fully every contact point of the line against an eyelet increases pressure thus making it more difficult for the drag to release line. But when you bow or "give" in (drop your rod) to the fish those contact points are negated and the drag is free to do its thing.
I do exactly the same thing while mutton snapper fishing and that with 50b line (yes they can and will break it if your drag and skill level is lacking). Compare QM's fish fighting with mine........almost identical. If a fish wants to go, grudgingly follow them down and allow your drag to do its work. When the run stops get right back on them.

Good for you Yogi.......easy enough and they make great memories. I break my Mutton video out about once a year and it brings it all back. QM on the other hand looks at his every morning with coffee ;-)

Smart man........to much acid. I have tried to give it up but even after a month I found I had a hard time functioning. I was basically miserable without it. But it is effecting me negatively I think because of that blasted acid content. Joints are stiff and I believe the coffee is contributing.

Have you ever considered cold brew? Much lower acid content. You can make up a batch of 'concentrate' that will last a week+ and dilute it with hot water or ice (depending if you want hot or iced coffee). Can be very tasty if done right. Lots of methods out there if you google around, not difficult at all. Might be worth a shot if you want coffee without the acid.

Wow and here I thought I was sort of up to speed with the real world. I am definitely going to go this route and i owe you one. Thank you!! Placed an order for 3 varieties of concentrate to compare and contrast what I can make at home. Great! (where is one of those bowing, arms extended and worshipping smiley faces when you need one ;-)

Typical Zulu rig, worm hook, 12 inch of mono leader, size 4 ball bearing swivel."
The one you typically use, QMike, are the 4" Zulu / Shadz? I've seen they have some in 5" that seemed to be aimed at redfish.

I have used nothing but 5 inch soft plastic jerk baits. They make special lures for redfish, but I have never used any of those.

Redbone is one of my favs. I like to use anything in pearl and even just plain pearl. Gray and pearl seems to be a good producer. When fishing the ZMAN RaZor I like the Bad Shad color, it looks close to a cisco.
You're welcome oth.

Happy to help, not too often I can offer much knowledge to the regulars on the fishing board, I am usually the one asking for it :) Let me know how it goes for you.
