doing some planning for this year's 1st father-daughter trip and I've got this as my screen background at work right now. Moments like these make all the work of portaging, bugs, bad weather and sore bodies totally worthwhile. This was on Malberg a few years back, the last night on the Makwa lollipop loop at the Kawishiwi Lake EP. I'd do that trip again.

Agreed, moments like that make whatever you went through to get there all worth it. That's my favorite part of the day up with after sunset and before it's completely dark.

That loop was my planned trip for May. Have to bump it till September now, but it will get done. Hope you have a great trip with your daughter. You are definitely a great guy to hang out with by a campfire. Sounds like fun.

Really liked that trip and I'd like to do it again someday. We didn't see a soul for 3 days when we were in that upper loop. There was a nice little campsite on one of those lakes (Fee, I think, not marked on the maps) that I wouldn't mind staying at...

My first ever BW trip, me and Wes in Canada/US. There's no way to place a value on stuff like this.

My terminology, but it's Kawishiwi up to Malberg, then Beaver-Adams-Boulder, and then Vee-Fee-Hoe-Makwa back down to Malberg and backtracking the same way you came in to Kawishiwi. I traced the route with my gps and on Google Maps it's kind of a lollipop shape. We didn't see anyone on the northern part of that route, it's pretty remote.

you go up the stem loop around to the left , come up over the top , then down around the right and back down to the stem, we are talking canoeing right ?

Love that area! Fee/ Vee/etc are cool. I found Ledge to be kind of eerie for some unknown reason. You probably saw Jerry's graffiti he sprayed on the Hoe cliffs :)

Thanks! Probably my fave photo I've taken in the the bwca. Sometimes those cozy little 2-3 star campsites are the best ones for 2 people!
