Super - super excited!
Just placed my order for a Rucksack for my Superior Hiking Trail trips. I think this sack is gonna treat me well! I also had my eye on the Granite Gear Crown Kai, but ultimately decided on CCS' rock solid reputation, comfort, (wanting support the local guy, "the Cookes") plus my own experience with their packs and working with them.

Anyone else here own a Rucksack?

How about their stuff sacks? I think I'm gonna get a few of those too at the Outdoor Adventure Expo at the end of the month.

I too have a rucksack and love it for the BWCA. Makes a great small pack and very comfortable to carry on portages. That being said I don't know if I would use it as a multi-day backpacking pack for multiple reasons. The main one is the hip belt and back panel and Granite Gear's design to make it cool with airflow between your back and the pack. Also the external pockets/attachments and hydration compatible feature. I picked up a Granite Gear Leopard VC 46 last year for less than $100. It is rock solid, light and can pack a ton of gear and carries very comfortably when loaded. It's made to carry loads long distances, which is ultimately the difference between the ruckscak and backpacking specific pack. The 60L is also much larger than the rucksack from a capacity standpoint and is designed to carry a heavier load, which is why the reinforced hip belt is so essential. Granite Gear also has a rock solid reputation and makes great products, and they're local.

This is in no way a knock on CCS products. I have 7 different CCS products and love them all. Just my $.02 on the subject.

My longest trip on the SHT is going to be 1-2-3 nights max. I thought about that too, but I'm not going on multi night/week long trips, so I think I'll be alright. ;-) Further - I've actually added a few extra outside pockets (of course at an extra $ but its totally worth it!).

Actually I think the 60L would be too much room for just a 1-3 night venture for me which is why ultimately I chose the Rucksack.

I did look at the Bushcraft, but ultimately decided compared to the three packs,

Wanderer, Rucksack, and Bushcraft that I liked the Rucksack the best, with some of the features of the Wanderer. ;-) So - that's where I ended up.

Just stopped at Dan's this evening and purchased a Rucksack myself to go along with the small cadre of CCS packs I already own.
I have several stuff sacks and use them to organize some of my gear - highly recommend.

I do not.... but each of the ducklings has had one for 6 years. They were 5 and 3 when we bought them. Great packs and they should have them for a long time. Our main pack is the CCS Guide Pack and I'm considering a Wanderer for myself.

I've got a rucksack, love it. Use it for everything, especially work trips. The CCS stuff sacks are a must as well. I've also got the light hiker and two of his portage packs.

I briefly had the bushcrafter and sold it. The side pockets make the sides unable to carry longer items with the pouch and compression straps, which is a big advantage of a rucksack.

I feel the same way, and Granite Gear is located in Two Harbors. GG is going thru a re-do of their products so many clearance and out of production deals are available. Just can't say enough about the Nimbus Trace I picked up 2 years ago.

Are these regular Rucksacks with a short torso or are they the youth Rucksacks?

Regular with short torso. We got these for the girls a few years before Dan came out with the youth packs. Here it is on one of them at age 5 and the other pic with my wife using it. It's a versatile pack..... youngster up to adult using the same pack.

Awesome, thanks! That is probably the route we will go. My wife and I are both short so the short torso will work great for us too. Our daughter is only 2 but I've been wanting a rucksack for myself and it would be great if she could eventually use it too. Sorry for the slight thread jack...

Nice KevinL! I placed my order w/o wondering how I was going to fit all my stuff in there, but after reading your post I feel better. I did actually look at them compared to the CCS Wanderer and Bushcraft, and am going w/ Rucksack.

I'm basically adding the features of the Wanderer to the Ruksack. (i.e. side mesh pockets).

I will have a Kammok Roo Hammock, Dragonfly Bug Net, HG Incubator UQ, Top Quilt, Straps, Bear Butt rain fly, steaks, URSAK, and my new "Fancee Feest" stove and Minibull design pots that are TINY! Hearing your packload mine is super similar, so I'm feeling 100% good.

They're (CCS) so busy right now that I'm on back order, but I'm very patiently waiting, but still can't wait to get it and see it. I feel like a kid at Christmas.

Oh, nice idea to add the mesh pockets to the rucksack. I might want one mesh pocket, some way to carry my saw in Ragged's sheath on the other side and my hatchet on the back. Sort of a rucksack, bushcrafter, wanderer mash up.

Dan just has so many good features. I recently took his light hiker to New Zealand. Perfect for when I wanted to shove a pack in my suitcase for just one day of outdoors activity. Will be packing it for the same reason for a trip to Colorado.
