Planning a September trip and researching shoes and neoprene sock combos. I'm leaning towards Chota Hippies and 5 10 water tennies. Anyone have opinions on either item or something else that provides ankle support and good traction?

I wear Chota Caney Fork boots and their socks on our May/June and September trips. It's a wetfooting combo that works well for me.

I use these - purchased last year at the local Farm & Fleet on sale for about $45.00. They are the low budget alternative to Muck boots which are at least twice as expensive. They have some Thinsulate insulation in foot area. I found them to be plenty warm on a Frost River trip in mid October 2016. In fact, my feet sweat a bit with activity while wearing them. Good traction and completely waterproof.
