Could someone give me a little spew on needed permits for BWCA?

I might be able to borrow a motor boat or a canoe. I don't know exactly which lake I will be fishing on. It seems recreation.gov offers permits based on entrance and date. Anyways, kinda confusing.

Motor BOAT ok, but ditch the motor... Canoe is much easier and legal!

It seems no one is answering in a clear manor....

Yes recreation.gov offers permits based on entry point, date, watercraft type, and use type. "Overnight paddle" would be used with a canoe or kayak and would be used for spending one or more nights inside the bwca. Motorboats are allowed within certain restricted areas along the edge of the bwca. You may notice some entry points have 2 permits, one for entering and going beyond the entry point lake and one for entering and camping on the entry point lake. Just ask if you have further questions.
