If you are looking for a nice folding knife for your tripping, check out the Blur from Kershaw. I highly recommend this one. It comes in matte blasted silver or in black coated blade finishes. Either serrated or non. It has a clip that keeps it low in your pocket, and thumb studs on both sides of the blade for easy one hand operation. The best part is that it's an "assisted open" knife. This means as soon as you start the blade moving, a spring kicks in and snaps it open like a switchblade. It's just as fast as a switchblade, yet legal to carry. The blade is stainless with a good hardness. They sell on eBay for around $50 if you keep looking. I highly recommend this knife.

I have had a ken onion kershaw blur for a couple years now and agree with the OP. It is a fantastic knife and one of the best purchases I have ever made. Sits low in the pocket so you don't even know it is there, but it is secure. Sharp as can be, looks great and the speed safe opening is quick and convenient. It goes with me on every camping trip of any kind and is invaluable for all kinds of cutting tasks. Although it is a pretty rugged knife I baby it a little bit and don't use it for the hardcore stuff, that is why I have the $13 dollar Morakniv knife that is absolutely the best value of any knife out there. I enjoy just looking at it, holding it, and flicking the blade open from time to time. Great knife.
