Looking to do a 5-6 day July trip and having trouble deciding on EP 47 or 64 (open to other suggestions as well). Looking for decent fishing (walleye preferred), some seclusion (don't like going from campsite to campsite at the end of day trying to find a vacant site). Spend an extra night at a couple of the sites. Thoughts? Thanks

I've been in both, but not in July. I don't fish, so I can't tell you about that. They both could be busy depending on when you go. Probably more options for seclusion out of #47, depending on how hard you're willing to travel/portage. IF you could get one of the two campsites on Crystal you'd probably be happy, but . . .

We went last September and we spent 3 nights on Vista and 3 nights on Meeds. Both had great walleyes and both had solitude. If I had to pick one I would probably pick Meeds, we literally had the lake to ourselves, great walleye fishing, and nice size smallmouth.

What I liked about Vista is I could catch walleyes right from our camp which was great.

I would give the edge to EP 47, and second the post about Meeds and Vista. Two of the better fishing lakes in the area. Camping on Horseshoe is nice too if you are lucky enough to get a site. One of the most well known spots for moose sightings in the entire BWCA. Vista is prettier, Meeds might just have better fishing.

Going through EP 64 is ok too. The area is nice but I am prejudiced due to a windblown day on Alder when we couldn't even leave camp. But it is a nice lake with good fishing reputation and the lakes to the east are very interesting

I really don't think you can go wrong with either one. But EP 47 is a classic BWCA trip that everyone should take at some point. Plenty of time for that.
