My eyes during tree pollen season get pretty terrible. I ran out of my prescription drops and have been trying to get by with otc drops for the remainder of the season. I take my first BWCA trip from June 5th-9th and am curious how the tree pollen is during that time. Should I buy some more prescription drops in case, or should the pollen season be over in a few weeks? I want to be able to see the fish I'm catching and enjoy all the beautiful scenery.

Thanks

Josh

I'm no expert, but I think tree pollen is an issue into early June. The lakes often have lots of pollen in the water, so I imagine there is a lot in the air, too. You'd probably be best served by bringing all allergy management items with you, to include your prescription. Better to have it and not need it than the other way around.

Thanks for the quick reply Mike!

I figured that to be the case, but always like getting another opinion. Darn prescription eye drops cost so darn much for such a small bottle. Was hoping to avoid that, but if it's to make sure I enjoy my time there then it's worth it.

Have a great day!

I'm with you Josh. I suffer every day from pollen with eyes and nose. Another reason I filter my water. Some lakes in the morning are covered with pine pollen and I do not need any more.

I have seen the pollen look so thick that I thought it was a green cloud or fog floating over the lake. I guess it was a cloud, just a cloud of pollen. On some of those windy days it is thick.

I know that stuff costs a lot. I have inhalers for my asthma and they're not cheap! But you're spending a lot in terms of money, time and effort on your trip, I wouldn't want to see that compromised. When my asthma gets bad I have serious troubles breathing and though I won't die, it will ruin a day.

Best of luck!

Mike
