I would appreciate any tips for good fishing lakes and key tackle to bring for EP14 Little Indian Sioux River. We might go as far as EP 16 or at least in the area, so feel free to chime in if you know that area too. I'm not set on the route from EP14 so some fishing knowledge will help me decide.

Any walleye in Lower or Upper Prauness, Shell, Lynx, Heritage, Hustler? Or is it better on Slim>Finger? I read someone having good luck on Little Loon.

I've been to Oyster before on the LLC loop but it was raining that day so we didn't fish much.

Thanks for your help! Can't wait to get out there this summer.

Of those you list, Shell is my favorite for walleye. Another trip to Oyster is on the to-do list, also. This time, targeting LT.

Thanks Schweady. I was just reading about LT on Oyster, I didn't know that was a destination for them, but very tempting to target. Also, glad to hear Shell is good, I'm really looking forward to this trip.

Put in the back of your mind for future trips: my best luck with crappie have come on Agnes and Gabbro.

I will also be going into ep14, we had good luck on crappies on Agnus around this time last year. they make a net for leaches called leach locker. i picked one up for this trip.

Thanks for the tip Carnz06, we might have to make it to Agnes from EP14, though I imagine there's more traffic there than on Oyster or Gebe.

I've never brought live bait on a trip before. I think I will try it this year. Is it annoying to have the leech locker dragging in the water while paddling?

that i dont know yet, as this is my first year with leaches, what day are you going in? we are planning on staying on shell, then day trips from there.

When I'm trying to cover miles I don't drag the leach locker, it really slows me down. Just put the leaches in a big zip lock filled with water, and change the water at the end of every portage. When fishing I just take a few and put them in a zip lock. That way if I lose the container of leaches I'm carrying I don't lose all of the leaches.

I went in EP 14 on 6/28. Got to fish on Shell on 6/29 and 6/30. I caught all of 2 walleye and 2 smallies drifting with a jig, tried white/orange/yellow/firetiger/pink grubs, tipped with a leech. Searched in 10-15 FOW around northern part of Shell, portaged to Little Shell, and over to Lynx. So disappointing.

Dang! The weather has been strange. I was fishing on Burntside, Twin Lakes, and Grassy Lake last weekend. Did alright on one day but it seemed slower than usual.

couple Julys ago on Shell we noticed lots of minnows near camp. I was able to turn a mesh bag into a minnow seine and catch minnows for bait and caught a bunch of walleyes. The walleyes were just barely keepers, but lots of fun. So, if I were you I'd bring a minnow trap or small seine. One of the few lakes up there I've been on that a minnow trap would be worthwhile.
Good luck.
