Do you apply permethrin to your rain gear?

I personally wouldn't. I think it is oily and could affect the DWR finish on the rain gear. Never tried it though so just my opinion.

I wouldn't bother - if they can bite through your rain gear, you need better rain gear!

I once stepped on a boundary water mosquito.

When I stood on him, he started doing pushups.

I packed up and left.

Nope-- apply it to your base layers and socks. Even wet-- it holds for at least a trip. Saw many ticks/Gnats fold on this layer once dry weather came after being wet. Permethrin really works....

Just finished the annual Premethrin party in the back yard - just waiting for them to dry so I can finish packing for Thursday's trip!
I agree with White Wolf - socks adn base layer - especially legs of pants where you might be brushing on grasses and trees. I also do my fabric hats.

I usually do the upper half of the socks and concentrate on the pants at the waist and legs. On shirts I spray the arm openings and up by the neck and down where the shirt would tuck into the pants.

Thanks for the help! I was thinking more along the lines of ticks getting me not the skeeters biting. Lol

Unless the rain gear is all you're going to be wearing :), I'd treat the socks, pants, and shirt for the ticks.

I treated all mine last year and didn't think it hurt it at all. But I noticed my shock cord that I can tighten to tighten it around my waist is deformed. Don't know if it is from perm or just a cheap cord
