Hello all

Looking to get away for a long weekend and heading to the Pine Lake area on Thursday, going in from McFarland Lake. Anyone have a good report on bugs? Hoping they are not in full force yet. Also any recommended lures/techniques appreciated. Going with my dad and 2 brothers. Really ready to get away from work for a while and would love to get on some good fish.

But of it's windy, no bugs right? I'm heading in tomorrow. Planning for bugs, hoping for no wind.

Bring a head net and some long sleeves and you'll live. Cant help you out on lures, just bring them all!

I would rather deal with the bugs than have it be too windy to fish or canoe.

Well, we just got back. Weather was great, the only rain was one night a decente thunder storm but well after dark. It did rain when we tore down camp on Monday am, but that;s ok. Bugs were not around much at all all few days. Fishing was good, we had to work at it, but we ate fish everyday. Mostly pike, a few bass, 3 walleyes ( 21, 21 , 17) A few small perch as well. WE did catch 3 Lake trout in about 18FOW on pine as well as a couple Lake Whitefish.

Glad to hear the weather and bugs mostly cooperated and that you were able to catch enough fish to eat! We're heading up in a couple weeks - hoping the fishing continues to heat up!

shock, wish you could have stopped. Ice cold brew was waiting for you. I told my partners, if someone shows up looking for me, just give them cold brew and good conversation.
