It was my grandfathers. It's too heavy, bulky and whatever. But works really well. I see no name. Says made in France though. Doesn't look cheap at all. Just curious if there is a compass geek out there. Haha.

I don't think so. But my great grandfather supplied the old logging camps up here. I don't know if it is from that far back. I do have an old uncle... my dad's age that might know something.

That is a cool compass. Have you compared it to a new compass to see if the needle is still properly magnetized?

Does it glow in the dark? A friend of mine crossed the border with a Korean War era compass and set off all sorts of radiation sensors. They tore his stuff apart to find it.
