I have found that ticks usually stop crawling after they hitch a ride on my permethrin treated clothes and that observation seems independent of temperature

In a remote grassy area here in Minneapolis the wood ticks seem to only be active around +60° and sunny, yet the other day I was on Spoon Lake and had wood ticks crawling on my dog and it was 46°, windy and rainy. Tough northern ticks I guess.
