I was wondering if a nonresident can take salted minnows into Canada? I know we can take nightcrawlers, in commercial bedding, can not take leeches or any other live bait, but what about salted minnows? I was up in the area south east of Wabikimi last fall and found several baggies of salted minnows at a fishing camp out in the bush, I'm pretty sure that camp had been used by USA folks. I dumped the minnows away from camp and took the baggies home with my trash. FRED

Yes salted minnows are legal to take. I checked with the DNR ( not sure the exact name of the Canadian DNR) not sure about provincial parks or specific areas, but we were just going to the chapleau area, luckily I had a copy of the e-mail I got from them, because when we were checked going in at Sault Ste Marie the border agents were going to take them. I showed them the the e-mail they got hold of the DNR and sent us on way with our minnows.
