We normally stop at the Gander Mountain in Duluth on the way to the Gunflint for a few last minute items. With the recent announcements of stores closings what are the alternative tackle stores in the Duluth area or on the way to the Gunflint ?

Marine General in Duluth, everything you might need, and a million things you don't. Also fishermans corner in Hermantown.

I prefer to get everything I need in town then stop for last minute items at wallmart. That would cover food, maybe some equipment, cheapo cigars, and consumables like bug dope and sun screen.

Are you talking about the one in Hermantown on the way out of Duluth on the north side? That one is on the closing list?

I have heard that the Gander up here will likely re-open under a different name. As others mentioned though, Marine General is excellent. North of Duluth on Rice Lake Rd is Chalstrom too, but they have far, far less selection than Marine General.

Yes, the Hermantown one is closing. My understanding is that all Gander Mountain stores nationwide are closing.

They have announced about 70 or more stores will stay open. They may keep the name, change to a new one or become part of Camping World's name. I don't think it is decided.

Camping world decided to start from scratch and sold all the stores inventory to a liquidator---hence the "store closing sales". Once they clear out the inventory they will start over.

What kills me is Gander often had good sales so a lot of the items I have seen people gobbling up in their "closing" sales here in Lakeville are actually more expensive than they were a month or two ago. Not everything, but enough to where it makes me wonder what people are thinking.

Mcsports did the same thing in Madison, WI. Store closing, up to 70% off "sales", the items were more expensive than normal prices. Left without buying anything.
