I Know this is talked about a lot, and i love to troll. so i came up with a inexpensive setup that worked well for me last week in the Q with a prisim solo. I bought some brackets off eBay(2X 19 to 25mm 1" inch BULL BAR MOUNT BRACKETING CLAMP FOR SPOT LED LIGHT BAR ATV
( 301820870182 )) and attached them to a PVC (I used 1.5") they were versatile to where I could turn any way i wanted and very durable. just some food for thought for those looking for ideas.
not computer savvy on link yet yet but will get there :)

Wait for what ;-)

I like it.......lightweight, stays with the canoe, no hassles.......Beats no rod holder by 100%

That looks awesome! I'm sure this is a dumb question but how did you attach the pvc to the clamps? Please be as thorough as possible otherwise my rod will end up in the lake : )

Nice work.

Here's the bracketing clamp, in case anybody needs another visual. Looks easy enough to run a bolt through the PVC and attach to the bracket's tab.
Edit: oh, yeah... 3rd picture. Missed that at first...

I could see myself attaching a quick-release safety cord/hook of some sort to the tube to keep my rod from flying off.

Tarnkt, I used a 5/16-18 flush carriage bolt and a wing nut to tighten. if put some washers between them it pivots eisier. Keep check on every once in while to ensure tight. I never had a problem of it getting loose like I thought I would. It actually worked better than I thought. Most of my ideas usually have flaws:)

I am totally impressed with your clamp idea! I just followed your lead and purchased 4 of these; two for each of my canoes.

Thanks for the great idea!
