Has anyone of here been fishing for walleye on either of those lakes. I didn't notice any other posts regarding those lakes. According to the DNR site they both appear to be well positioned for walleye. Also wondering if I can get my 16' SmokerCraft in there as the DNR website mentioned it was very shallow.

Thanks for any insight

As you probably know, Whitefish has one of the highest counts of walleye per test net in all of NE MN, if not the whole state. It's a pretty lake, but more suited for canoes, grumman sportboats, or cartopper type boats, as there's no boat ramp. Toohey, although shallow, poses no problem in getting your boat in...just watch for the occasional rock here and there. Both lakes are great fishing for small eater size walleye, with VERY FEW being picture or wall worthy. They are popular meat and potato fishing lakes with local and Duluth residents. I used to fish Toohey and Fourmile A LOT, and given the choice I'd pick Fourmile...bigger fish, greater variety, but I gave up that area entirely as it's become a playground for idiots on atv's, and guys that just wanna drink, party, and spoil the quiet solitude the area otherwise could offer. IF that don't happen to you then you'll probably enjoy your trip as all those area lakes offer great fishing...and if you do your research some pretty good trout fishing opportunities too that many people aren't aware of.

The walleye on Whitefish bite mostly at night. It's very clear water. I fished most of the day and did not catch a walleye. Some others fishing the lake let us know to troll at night. That night we trolled crank baits and caught 8 fish in about two hours.
