I'm sure I could contact Northstar Canoes and get my question answered but I'd much rather get a bunch of opinions from all the experience here.
My dilemma, our 2 boys (6 and 8) are getting too big to share the seat in front of me in our SR Quetico 18.5. It's worked great and I absolutely love my SR but the boys want a little more room and I'm no where near ready to split our group into 2 tandems.
I'm thinking the solution to our problem for the next few years will be a 4 person canoe. I'm going to check out a Northwind 20 at an outfitter after our trip this week as I've never seen one in person. I'm not interested in the We-No-Nah 4 person. I'll see if a trade is possible or if I will have to sell my SR outright.
My question, can the optional 4th seat be added to the Northwind 20 anytime or is it something that has to be installed from the factory?

I'd talk to Nort West Canoe---they can customize it and in my opinion better than a factory install. They put my third seat in on my Souris River Q 18.5, that did not come with a factory seat.
North West Canoe
They work with Bell's a lot, not sure what they charge but I remember it being cheap enough that it didn't make sense for me to try to do it. You might give them a call?

My original post may have been a little long winded and not very well explained. I'm thinking I want to sell or trade my SR Quetico 18.5 and get a Northwind 20. However all the Northwind 20's that the outfitters have are set up as 3 and not 4 person, thus the interest in adding the 4th seat.
