I have a Whisperlite International that came with the kerosene jet, but i have never tried it. Will kerosene burn longer than gasoline or Coleman fuel? Will it burn hotter? Any advantage or disadvantage to either?

I've thought about this myself but never tried it. I have a Dragonfly with both jets. In theory, Kerosene has more BTU potential and should take less fuel by weight to produce the same amount of heat. It has been suggested to me that a Kerosene spill in your pack would be pretty nasty, that's true, but so would a white gas spill and in either case the real issue is you just lost your fuel. In my mind it could come down to cost. 50 years ago when I was a kid you could get bulk Kerosene almost anywhere and it didn't cost much. Nowadays you're mostly limited to pint containers or 55 gallon drums, just not that many options to buy it anymore. Nevertheless, since you brought this up I'm probably gonna try it.

Like my dragonfly stove this stove is made to burn different fuels. When you travel the world with this stove you can't bring the fuel with you. Some fuels are not readily available in all countries. So to give you choices they include two jets. My Dragonfly will burn 7 different fuels as I remember. White gas is a good choice if you can find it where you are. Diesel and Kerosene do burn hotter and will give off more soot and smell. Like Maxx said you don't want to spill it or you or your gear will stink. It also has more BTUs per liter so it will boil faster. But I will be sticking with white gas because of ease of use.

Kero will be harder to light and pre-heat. Will add a small bit of extra cooking potential but not a lot or even noticable. It will soot up the burner a lot more and need more cleaning. The fuel does not evaporate well and stinks.
I have used and will not use anymore, Coleman and Crown white gas stove fuels are what I like, by far.

If you just have to mess with kero make sure you have a Whisperlite International NOT a standard Whisperlite. Bigger fuel line does not soot and clog as fast.

Standard Whisperlite with small fuel and pre-heat loop.

Whisperlite 600 International, with large fuel line pre-heat.

Want to keep your burner soot free? Use alcohol to prime it.
