My buddy was dealing with a northern pike that swallowed his lure and I needed a picture of this fish, so I set the timer, put the camera on the food pack and took it myself.

The second picture was the first nice bass I caught of the trip. Might have been my second fish overall of the trip.

Probably just a little bit more :) I was just excited to catch that first decent fish.

Those are both great fish!

I'm dying to get out there and cast for smallies. Grew up fishing them in Maine, so I know that the largies aren't quite the same beast.

Any day I can't get a walleye or a pike, I'll probably whack a bass to eat, so I'm not judging when I ask: did you release either or both of those fish?

No bass were eaten on this trip. We planned on eating walleye for lunch on days 3 thru 7 and did without any difficulty.

For the most part is was good, but we had a 3 day stretch without seeing the sun and it rained or drizzled most of the time. Lows in the lower 40s and highs in the lower 50s on those days. Had good travel days with being dry and wind at our back, so I felt lucky there.

I think you will do fine. Let us know how do when you get back. Good luck!
