I just got back the other day from fishing Hungry jack lake and a few other lakes around the gunflint. Smallmouth were hyper active and everything from small to large were biting, during the day and at night. Many fish in the 17 to 20 inch range. Rainbows were very active and walleyes were moderate to slow depending on which lake you were on. The water temps were in the 66 to 70 degree range surface water temp and that was pretty consistent from small trout lakes to larger lakes. there were multiple mayfly hatches not very strong and I didn't see a big hex hatch at all. The fish really were keying in on minnow lures but you could get them on leeches also. Good luck to anyone going up it should be a good bite for you.
