I've never brought my phone into the BWCA, and I probably won't this time, either. But I was wondering if anyone knows if I'd get cell phone coverage on Wood Lake? I have Verizon, if that makes any difference.

I did indeed rock down to Electric Avenue, but I did not take it higher. I regret that.

Thanks! Follow-up question: was it spotty or a fairly strong signal?

It was pretty consistent. My buddy decided to take a loooong nap during a lunch break. I was sending pictures back and forth to the wife the entire time. Never tried a voice call.
That being said I'm pretty sure the tower up the Fernberg is AT&T, not sure if that impacts Verizon.

Thanks a lot! I really appreciate it.

I have Verizon and have had good luck in the Wood lake area. Why not bring it? What if you come across someone that needs help? Weather updates are nice also.

Thanks for the information. Though it is tempting, I have decided to leave my phone behind. Instead, I have finally figured out my wife's camera and will use that for photos.
I do not feel confident in my willpower sufficient to bring my phone. I know I will be checking my phone far more than I may convince myself that I will, and will be tempted to send texts or even make calls. There would be a novelty to it, but doing so would also change for me my experience in the woods which I ultimately don't want to alter.
But thanks to everyone who responded! If I change my mind, I know I'll be covered.
