You can find a lot of information on fishing from a kayak but not as much from a canoe. I plan to troll lindy rigs, and anchor with slip bobbers with leeches.
Do any of you have an anchor trolley on your canoe to adjust the position? Do you use a drift sock from a canoe? How do you rig it?

Thanks!

I fish out of my solo canoe about 200 days a year. I don't use a drift sock but I do anchor quite a bit. I have 2 anchor lines. One goes from my seat to stern and the other from bow to mid thwart. I have pad eyes on both ends of the boat and hold the free end of the lines in place with cam cleats.

Works great. I can drop an anchor and secure it as fast as the weight will go to the bottom.

Floating line or a float through your line will help u retrieve anchors. I use the same set up as Joetrain. Sometimes you can just use one anchor but other times 2 are needed.

Thanks joetrain, 200 days a year!
Is your setup something like this?

Amarillojim thanks for the float, or floating line tip, I suppose the floats help if your anchor line gets away from your boat(out of the cleat)?

If you don't want your anchors hanging off the 2 end of your canoe you will need to raise them up from your seated position. The float or floating line allows you to reach your line before it sinks from the bow or stern. I just tie my anchor lines off at a thwart or seat brace. I have a SRQ16 and run my anchor lines through the bow and stern eyes.

I use a drift sock. Love it. I tie off to the stern as I find it slows you down better because you catch that much less wind. I tie an additional piece of paracord to the sock and the thwart in front of me so I don't have to twist around to pull the sock in.
