...without a literal paddle.

I ran up the Gunflint Trail a week or so back to a little walleye lake. I get the canoe off the car before it hits me that I brought no paddle. POOP! So I found a stick in the woods and used it. Pretty funny; not very efficient. I got a few keepers.

On the way back in, I put a plastic grocery bag over the landing net which worked great. Just thought I'd share.

I saw a show with Bear Grills and he did not have a paddle. He found a branch in the shape of a Y then wove some branches in and covered it with a plastic bag. It worked just fine , as did yours.

Glad the story didn't end with 'so I went home and hoped to remember the paddle next time'. Glad you made it out and got into a few 'eyes. Another reason to keep a few plastic sacks stored in the vehicle! Muddy shoes, wet clothes, seat protector, gear carrier when you've forgotten backpack, makeshift paddle,.......etc

I figured it would end with "so I went to Trail Center' and had the best hamburger!"
