Awesome trip report. Can't wait for our annual trip in August. Reading yours wets my whistle......

I always love reading your reports. I like to read Aurora's adventures to my little one in preparation of his first REAL trip up there. (He won't fish anywhere but Minnesota since our trip to lake one). Lol.

Very nice report. Aurora sure seems to love it there. She's really growing up fast. Good luck with your relocation.

Another great report, TB - I really enjoyed it, especially as I am heading in Brant this fall. I'm planning to head up to Bingshick so was interested in that part. Information on portages to Bingshick was minimal, so that was good to see and the campsites too. I'm planning to paddle out the Chub River and down through Seahorse, but may go the other direction. I've got 8 days and may do a longer loop or a short one, depending on how I'm feeling and how the weather is.

That's a shame about that Tuscarora campsite too.

Thanks to everyone for the nice comments. These trips add immeasurably to the unspeakable joy of watching Aurora grow up.

The move has gone reasonably well, I just need to accept a job. Have had a few interviews, with a few more to come. Hopefully we'll be ready/able to make the decision by the end of next week. Then we can start planning our next trip ;)

Great report, it is such fun watching your little one growing up. It would be really a interesting trip if your family and Ducks could get together for a trip. I see you use a yak paddle when your tripping, ? not when you and Vicky paddle together. Does it work well ? How long of a paddle is it? My son is considering it as his wife-to-be isn't a strong paddler. Again great report and great pictures. FRED

When we purchased our 3 seat Souris River 18.5 a few years back, I decided to go with the yak paddle (Bending Branches Navigator). The logic being - since Aurora would be sitting right in front of me, the yak paddle would all but eliminate the chance of me bonking her in the head when having to switch sides or getting her wet with water running off the end of the blade. Also, it seems to make sense using it with a novice paddler in front. I don't know that it's necessarily a more efficient mode of paddling but, I've gotten used to it and like the performance.

If it were just Vickie and I (or another experienced paddler) I'd likely use a traditional blade.

For the record. I'd love to paddle with the 'duck' family if the opportunity ever arose. :)

I know you went south out of Bingshick to Flying and Green, but I'm thinking I'll head out the Chub River from Fay. Do you have any thoughts on whether I should go to Glee, then Fay, or would it be navigable if I went south out of Bingshick and then west on the creek to Fay?

The creek south of Bingshick is navigable, and (years ago) I used that portage into Fay. Andy (at Tuscarora Lodge ) told me that someone had inadvertently took that portage this spring - so it's is/was still passable. But, he added it was very overgrown.

It wouldn't take much extra effort to scout it out on your way to Bingshick, or on a short daytrip. If it's passable, I'd say this would be the quicker/easier route to Fay.

Thanks, TB, I think somebody (luvmybell, maybe) had done it and said something about a portage that wasn't on the map maybe. If water levels don't seem extremely low, I'll probably try that way. Maybe, as you suggest, on the way in to Bingshick. I think the portage to/from Glee was muck at the time . . .

A quick update on the trashed campsite. ...

Yesterday I received a message on my you tube channel that someone (flyboykramer6) passed through Tuscarora Lake this past week and he reported that the site has been cleaned up and appears to be a useable site once again.

Thanks to all who had a hand in cleaning up the mess.
