Hello campers. Any advice for EP14? It's my first time entering there. I did LLC into Gebe a couple years ago. Thinking about seeing the "thrones" again. Any thing else to look at? Pictos? Waterfalls?

Thanks!

Devil's Cascade is easy to find and is quite a thing to see. The Pow Wow trail also snakes through the area.

As mentioned earlier, Devil's cascade is cool, it is on the North Portage of Lower Pauness Lake. Since you are heading to Gebe, there are pictographs on the West side of Rocky lake. You already mentioned the Chairs. If you make it to Lac la Croix there are the Pictos there also.

I did this ep last year and did the loop staying inside Lac La Croix. Devils cascade was definitely one of the highlights. The rock recliners also were. What I remember most was being remote and not seeing other travelers. Also encountered a few beaver dams that were a challenge.

I just got back from there yesterday. The water's high and that makes Devils Cascade impressive. There's pictos on the South Island site on Finger Lake, on the big boulder in camp, facing the channel (handprints). Fat Lake has the clearest water I've ever seen. I didn't see a person for 2 1/2 days, saw a family on the portage from Little Loon to Slim, then didn't see anyone until I got to Oyster a few days later. I camped on Fat, Finger, Oyster, then back at Lower Pauness my last night, awesome loop. Checked out the recliners on Gebe and the pictos on Rocky. Saw swans on Green, lots of loons, beavers and eagles.

Which way did you come into Fat? Do any fishing while you were there?

I took the unmarked portage out of Slim, its around 260 rods, lots of sharp turns and pretty overgrown, but worth it. I fished for Lake Trout and got one just out from the campsite. Cooked it over the fire that night. Would have loved to stay longer, but had to keep moving. Working on a trip report and a video report that I'll have up in a week or so.

I was at fat a month ago beautiful little lake full of Lakers 2-5 #s , that unmarked Portage is a beast especially the slim side it's just around a mile long but worth it. We made it from entry point to fat in a little over 6 hrs single portaging

My group of 6 will be heading into EP 14 next month and then exiting through EP 16. Normally, we are on Crooked Lake mid-June via EP 22/23, so this will be new water and a different time of year for us. Any tips people can offer would be appreciated! Things to see, campsites to use or avoid, lakes to fish or not to fish, etc. Thanks!

Looking forward to your trip report!

We haven't finalized our route yet. Upper Pauness, Lower Pauness, Loon, Little Loon. Looking at bushwhacking from Slim to Fat, but open to going around to the north. Then thinking Eugene, Little Beartrack, Beartrack, Thumb, Finger, Pocket. From Pocket Lake, we are looking at heading over to Lac La Croix, eventually making our way down to Iron Lake and Curtain Falls. Then backtracking to LLC, then Lake Agnes, Nina Moose, and out the Moose River.

I am open to any and all suggestions!
