The Sawyer DY special is a David Yost canoe design. David also designed many of the popular solos: the Merlin, Magic and Flashfire among others. The DY special is a fast and stable canoe. The hull is straight tracking and will feel much more at home on lakes than rivers.

I bought a damaged DY special a while back because I got a deal on it. I've since cut out the 3 damaged areas and replaced with 5 layers of 6oz glass and resin from Northwest Canoe. I think the damage was from using a ratchet strap to tie down the boat. The repairs are sound and water tight. I've left them unpainted for your inspection. I decided that I don't have as much use for a solo as I would another tandem (wife loves to paddle too!).

The canoe is wet sanded and ready for a power buffing with cutting compound to get up to its original shine.

Also willing to sell for $500/OBO. I recognize that this pricing may be a bit aggressive, but I would really rather trade. If you are interested in buying, please make an offer. I can meet in Uptown, Minneapolis or Deerwood.
