Some people are idiots.
I'm assuming the plea was to a misdemeanor charge, since he's getting the pistol back. A possible year in a fed pen seems a little steep for something that isn't a felony.

Sadly, most penalties for poaching or killing protected species are too lenient.
If we aren't actively working to protect our planet, we are acquiescing to those who run their life as if their personal WANTS are the only things that matter. John

What's sadder is when the penalty for killing them is worse than some get for killing another human being. Having said that, anybody that would kill an eagle and run it over with an atv is nothing more than a dirtbag idiot. They should rub fish oil on his eyelids and let the eagles peck at 'em.
