Some people are idiots.

I'm assuming the plea was to a misdemeanor charge, since he's getting the pistol back. A possible year in a fed pen seems a little steep for something that isn't a felony.

this sort of incident really irritates me. he knew what he was doing was wrong, he did it with much malice but running over it with the ATV, plus disposing (hiding) it in the woods.

i think his sentence was too lenient.

Not the kind of neighbor one hopes for.

I feel the same way......

Sadly, most penalties for poaching or killing protected species are too lenient.

What's sadder is when the penalty for killing them is worse than some get for killing another human being. Having said that, anybody that would kill an eagle and run it over with an atv is nothing more than a dirtbag idiot. They should rub fish oil on his eyelids and let the eagles peck at 'em.
