Planning a 7 day trip mid August to this area. I would like to cover several lakes and get away and find serenity. Are there any good fishing spots to look for?

Welcome to the Board!
Nice area and not very busy - the campsite on the north west corner of Crab is pretty good. Good beach landing but an uphill to the site which is set in a stand of pines. Check out Cummings - the 2 sites on the north east end- on the way to the Big Moos Portage (island and penninsula) are great.

Thanks for the info. First time to this area of the bwca. Canoeing in lakes is somewhat new to me. Its a nice change of pace being able to take your gear and have adequate space. Ive mostly experienced kayaking on rivers on shorter trips.

Ding Ding welcome aboard and prepare for departure.

This is an area I have always wanted to visit and am planning on a trip there next summer.

Are you outfitting yourself? Taking a tow to the EP? Or launching from the parking lot?

Look on the maps section on this site or the route finder to get information on campsites portages and fish.

Have fun planning.

Outfitting ourselves. We have the gear and canoes. We plan to paddle to the entry point. The adventure getting there is part of the experience. Part of the appeal of the bwca for me is the quietness and lack of people. No jetboats flying past you at 70 mph swamping your canoe. Floating with 500 of your closest friends just isnt as much fun as it used to be at 21.

We had an outstanding time when we were there in June. We actually just stayed right on Crab because the fishing was so good right there.

We stayed on the camp on the point. A bit windy - but the bugs weren't bad.
