I recently bought a variety of Spring Creek items and am quite impressed.

First, I got his suction cup rack kit where you add 2x4's to make the complete rack. I went this route because we fly to MN and rent a car. So, we need to be able to adjust the rack to different vehicles and wanted to be able to carry two canoes. The kit is very well thought out and we can adjust just by drilling new holes for each car. Only drove up and down the Fernberg trail for a day trip on Lake One with two canoes, but it felt rock solid.

Second, my wife loves to row and so we bought one of his rowing rigs to put on an Alumacraft Ultralight. Again, very well thought out, easy to use, and worked great. My wife had a great time making me try to keep up with her soloing one of our Q17s. She felt no need for the stabilizing floats you can buy with the rowing kits.

Third, the Alumacraft we bought had the Spring Creek yoke/seat already in it. It is a pretty comfortable yoke. I just used it to portage from our cabin to the lake (about 20-30 rods) but I can see why people like it. And it's easy to flip over to use as the center seat for rowing.

We bought the Alumacraft from Chuck at Spring Creek and so got to stop by and pick it up in Mt. Iron. Nice guy and very helpful. There's no shop there, just the warehouse and manufacturing building. It was fun to see all the stuff stacked up, ready to go. Plus with his help, I can now tie a good trucker's hitch.

Now I just need a real solo so I can hope to keep up with my wife while rowing on White Iron.

Spring Creek Outfitting is under new management. I believe Chuck is getting out of canoe/outfitting sales to run his manufacturing operation separately. Might check Facebook for more info on the business.

Yes, Chuck completed the sale to someone new but both Chuck and his mother will continue to work there.

I stopped in to spring creek on my way up for a spring trip this year. I wanted to pick up a transducer mount for the canoe. Well, Chuck had just shipped out every single one he had to his retailers the day before. He felt pretty bad. Anyway, he said he might have something that would work out. He took me all throughout the shop. Digging in boxes and bins. Looking in piles of metal tubing tubing. Finally, up on a shelf he found an old prototype type. A non adjustable version. I asked if he would sell it. He said he'd just give it to me. So, I bought a tshirt and thanked the kind man.

The transducer mount was the perfect length for my needs. Everything worked out perfect.

They make some great stuff.

I agree. I stopped to get a yoke for my solo this June and it's great as is their service. A great business!

I think there are great too. My problem is they are not open when I go up most of the time.

I'd call ahead. Especially during this time when they are turning the manufacturing part of the business over to the new ownership, things may be changing all the time. Chuck was very flexible as our plans evolved.
