So I got a piranhamax 197c for a gift and and planning on converting it to a portable. Going to do the Mudro loop through boot, fairy, gun and moosecamp end of August and hopefully I can have the graph up and running by then. I've been looking into it on previous forums and it's kinda over my head. Don't know anything about electronics so if anyone can chime in that would be great! Wondering how many AA battery's I need to hook up to it, mounting ideas and can't find any info on if the transducer can shoot through an aluminum hull or not? Maybe if someone can list off everything I need to order to make this happen it would be helpful.
hi go to search bar and type in battery pack for depth finder, you will find more than you need go on line, order a 10 spot battery holder get water tight container like a plano waterproof box, get recharable batteries from ikea if you have one near, we got 20 and a charger for about $40 i think tried it out this week on piranah max 175, monochrome and it lasted about 30 hours, put a little water on the bottom of canoe and place it down, it should should right through, it does on my aluminium. you could bring a little plumber puddy to place next to the transducer on each side to steady it if it tends to flip on its side in the waves.
