I haven't seen all of the episodes but he was definitely my favorite person on that show. Did he ever get to travel the States like he wanted to? This is too bad, he was relatively young.

I don't have a TV, but live off grid in AK from March to November and winter in Northern MN in my off grid cabin the rest of the time.
I never thought that these AK reality shows were remotely realistic (I watch some when I'm staying at hotels), but now I'm curious. I'd kinda like to see this one.
I never knew it existed.
A pic of the Skilak Lake Guard Station where I live in AK. 6 miles from my nearest neighbor. This place was built in the 1950's.
And a pic of Skilak Lake.

May the rivers be crooked and winding, and your portages lonesome, leading to the most amazing view.

Ditto! Always enjoy your pictures also. You are a fortunate man!

At the end of last night's show, the trailer indicated that Bob had passed.
During the show, it was evident that he had little time remaining. Both his daughter and ex-wife came out to the cabin to spend some time with him. I believe Bob knew his time was short, since he sent his dog home with his daughter.
Bob was clearly a man who loved the wilderness life, a sentiment echoed by his ex-wife during her visit to the cabin. She essentially said that the wilderness life was in Bob's DNA.
At least Bob's last days were filled with some measure of happiness. It was obvious that he was filled with joy when both his daughter and ex-wife came for a visit.
RIP Bob Harte!

p.s. The link to the story above gave his birthday as 1951. The date indicated in last night's show was 1953. (Regardless of which it is, he was still a relatively young man.)
